Schaffner EMC, the US division of the Swiss electronic components manufacturer, hired Interstellar Data to redesign the company web site, making it more user-friendly and accessible to search engines while adhering to the established corporate style.

The design team created a Flash map feature that enable site visitors to quickly locate a company representative. The map requires no clicks. Visitors may simply roll the mouse over their state and a list of local US reps will immediately show.

The designers constructed the site with efficient, modular code so that the parts of the site that need updating can be quickly and easily modified. The team trained on-site employees to handle basic information updates. This lowers the cost of maintaining the site and enables the company to easily inform customers of new developments.

The team also embarked on a search engine optimization project which is designed to bring new customers in to the site. The project targets engineers and laboratories that require specific types of components with specific performance parameters.
